Business Information Triangle

A guide to the business information ecosystem including company information, industry/market research, and business publications.

Industries & Markets Information Ecosystem

The Industries and Markets Information Ecosystem provides information on the broader industry that a company operates in, and may be organized by a number of different classification systems (e.g., NAICS, GICS, etc.). Industry data is compiled from company sources, government statistics, associations, and other sources and used in industry overviews and market research reports.

Associations

  • Business, industry and trade associations can be excellent sources of research, statistics, and current information on industries including lists of current member firms. These associations often publish this information on their own web sites.
  • Passport (Library Database): Euromonitor's industry reports include lists of official sources (government agencies) and trade associations in the Sources section of each report.
  • IBISWorld Industry Reports (Library Database) routinely list such associations in the Additional Resources section of each report.
  • First Research Industry Profiles (available in the Mergent Intellect Library Database) include a list of Industry Websites and a glossary of Acronyms including industry associations.
