A self-paced, open course to build your research skills

Requesting Books

If a book is not available (In Library) or if you are off-campus and searching for books to pick up at a future date, you can request the book be  held for you. Note the timeframes outlined below for each type of request.

You can request books through two different methods: the Request feature in the library catalog can be used for items that are owned by Brock University,  or by requesting the item via RACER, our Interlibrary Loan service. Here is a chart to help you decide the best method to use:

Book Location Method to Use
In Library Use Request  feature to place a hold on the book
Due YY-MM-DD Use Request  feature to recall the item from the current borrower
Not owned by Brock University RACER Interlibrary Loan Book Request

RACER Interlibrary Loan

If you still cannot find your book, you can request the book using RACER, our Interlibrary Loan service. If you are a first-time user of this service, you will need to set up a RACER account. Consult the Interlibrary Loan  service page for detailed instructions.
