Sociology

Research in the field of Sociology has a major impact on social issues such as critical political economy, capitalist relations of production, educational equity, environmental activism, gang violence, gender inequalities, globalization, hate crimes, sexuality, racism and animal rights are experienced in everyday life.  However, scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed journals often use technical language and are so detailed they can be difficult for the general public to use. For this reason, research studies and findings are often summarized in popular news sources such as newspaper articles, magazines and news sites. This makes the scholarly research accessible to more people and how it applies in real-world contexts.
