It was great to meet you all! Thanks for participating and contributing to the discussion. To answer some questions that I may not have addressed:
This is a great question - most of our books are considered scholarly sources but there are items in our collection like biographies, more popular books on a topic (e.g. this book about leadership from Stephen Covey). Try to stick with books from academic publishers such as university presses and make sure the tone of the book is written for a more academic audience.
Our book collection and books from other university libraries can be borrowed with your student card. Online resources are available by logging into your account and you can access the Interlibrary Loan service through your OMNI account too! Whenever you are asked to pay money to access something, definitely check the library because you will most likely have access to it.
OMNI is a general database that will help you get started with any kind of topic. It also gives access to our book collection here at Brock and other university libraries in Ontario.
Specialized databases will offer more curated results for various disciplines, e.g. Politics.
