What is Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC)?
- It is a self-paced e-learning course that provides a visual introduction to financial markets and to over 100 Bloomberg Terminal functions.
- There are 3 sections: Core Concepts (introduction, economic indicators, currencies, fixed income, equities), Getting Started on the Terminal, and Portfolio Management.
- There are 160 interactive questions to assess your knowledge.
- Upon successful completion of the Core Concepts modules within BMC, you will obtain a certificate of completion from Bloomberg.
BMC is normally taken for free by Learners (Students) on one of Brock University's Bloomberg Professional terminals. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the closure of the Library, students do not have access to Bloomberg terminals.
Bloomberg is now offering FREE access to BMC via the web, in lieu of a Bloomberg Terminal connection. The fee for web access for this program is normally $149 US, but is now being waived for academic customers. The program is in place until April 30, 2021. You do not need to have a Course Code to qualify for the fee waiver.
Students with existing BMC accounts can log-in for free to continue working on their certification on the BMC portal: https://portal.bloombergforeducation.com/
Students without current BMC accounts can create these on the BMC portal, using their brocku.ca email address. In both instances, a certificate of achievement will be issued to students upon successful completion of the program, just as is done with the terminal version.
