How do I request an item that is unavailable?

Requests can be sent to all partnering Omni institutions for their copies of texts available directly through the Omni search. If Brock University does not have a copy available, a link stating 'Get it from another library' will appear. This indicates that an Omni partner institution has a loanable copy.

Once signed into your Brock account, you can request the item to be sent to the James A. Gibson holds shelf by using the 'Get It From Another Library' button. For more information, please visit the Borrow From Other Libraries page.

You'll receive an email when the item is ready for pick up, usually the next day for 'Available' items. Pick up requested items at the Ask Us Desk located on the main floor of the James A. Gibson Library, the hours for which are available at this link here.

Within an item record in Omni, under the How to Get It section of the page, we have highlighted the Get It From Another Library button.

How do I request an item from another library outside of Omni?

Should a title not be available through the Omni Search, you can request a copy by clicking on the 'InterLibrary Loan' link in the navigation bar which will open a blank request form. To fill out the form you must have the title, the author/editor, and the ISBN.  See Borrow From Other Libraries for more information or contact libhelp@brocku.ca.

Each omni search page features a header with useful shortcuts for types of requests. The 5th button is highlighted here, reading InterLibrary Loans, which will open the Interlibrary loan blank form when clicked.

How do I request items for pick-up at a location other than the James A. Gibson Library?

There are two other selectable locations within the Brock University network from with Omni: the Burlington Campus, and the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.

Under the Get it section, select request for pick up. A drop down menu will appear for Pickup Location, from which you can select James A. Gibson Library, Burlington Campus, or Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.

Should you want to have an item sent for yourself to another Omni partner school, you can do that as well!Under the Get it section, select request for pick up. A drop down menu will appear for Pickup Institution, you can select from the full list of Omni Partner schools. Then it will ask for the Pickup Location, if that school has multiple campus library desks.
