Getting Started with Omni

Favourites and Citations

Omni allows you to easily save items to your favourites list, create links to specific items, and auto-generate citations/references in formats like APA, Chicago, MLA, and more.

When logged into your Omni library account, you can save any item to your favourites list by clicking the pin icon.

Highlighting the black push pin icon to the top right of each Omni entry which allows users to Pin these search results for later usage.

You can view all your pinned items in your "My Favourites" list, which can be accessed by clicking on the large pin icon in the top menu.

Selecting the "Citation" icon allows you to auto-generate a reference in common formats like APA.

Under the Skip To/Send To section of the Omni record, the third icon called "Citation" is highlighted, which is where a pre-made citation is generated for each item record.

You can also export to bibtext, RIS, Endnote and other bibliographic manager formats by clicking on the those icons.

In the Skip To/Send To section, we have highlighted the 6th, 8th, and 9th icons listed as additional tools for exporting citations.

  • Export RIS: An RIS file is a bibliographic citation file saved in a format developed by Research Information Systems (RIS). Imported into citation managers such as Zotero and Mendeley
  • EndNote: Export citation to the EndNote citation management tool.
  • EasyBib: Export citation to the EasyBib citation management tool.

Explore the library's Citation Management webpage to learn more about these tools.
