Omni makes borrowing print materials from Brock and other libraries easy. Not only will you be able to search Brock Library's collection, but you can also view and borrow from the print collections of 18 partner university libraries across Ontario.
Students, faculty and staff can access book chapters and journal articles from print-only sources by requesting a scan for delivery right to your email. There is no charge for this service. In order to comply with Brock’s Fair Dealing Policy, we can only provide scans of ‘short excerpts’: typically one chapter, one article, or 10% of a copyright-protected work.
Note: If you are a student looking for course readings, please refer to your Brightspace Course Readings list first before submitting a scan request.
To make a request:
Library staff will notify you by email when the scan is ready and include the download link.
You can expect your scan within 3-4 business days.
The link allows for 5 downloads, and expires after 30 days.
If your digitization request cannot be fulfilled, an email will be sent to notify you of that cancellation.
Request physical item for pickup (hold)
A request (also known as a "hold") may be placed on a physical item in the Brock Library collection or at another Omni library.
Several categories of items (3-Hour Loan Course Readings, items from the Recreation Collection (ex.: board games, yoga kit), items from the Ask Us Desk Collection (ex.: whiteboard kits, calculators) , etc.) are not eligible for requests as they are high-demand items with short loan periods.
To make a request for an item in the Brock Library collection:
After submitting the request you will receive a message indicating that your request has been sent.
To make a request for an item located at another library:
If nothing is listed, you do not have any active requests.
Email libhelp@brocku.ca if you encounter any issues with sending a request.
