Grey literature databases identify resources that are key to fully understanding the research and scholarship of a particular topic. Grey literature can include leaflets, zines, fact sheets, preprints, conference proceedings, theses, guidelines, and policies. Many are open resources that go through a quality control process before they are published. Finding grey literature can help combat publishing lag and confirmation bias in research.
Grey literature can be hard to find, often times not found on larger databases or other traditional publishing sources. Below are some examples of grey literature and places to explore grey literature.
