It is advantageous to research making your business idea legal early in the process. Government sources and business associations have great resources to help you get started.
If you are interested in looking for regulations or guides that are from a government site, you may use the site limiter function in a search engine to search within a site. For example, if you are interested in the regulations of setting up a business in Hamilton, you may type:
Business regulations in Hamilton site: canada.ca or site: gc.ca
Business regulations in Hamilton site: ontario.ca or site: on.ca
The search results will then show you sources that appear on Government of Canada or Ontario provincial government sites.. For the United States, use site: .gov.
These sites provide legal information relevant to starting a new business such as incorporation, business licenses, and identifying relevant local by-laws.
