Financial & Economic Data

Financial and economic data can be used to estimate startup costs, create performance projections, determine sustainability of company within a region, country, or sector. The following section lists some key site that will provide both economic and financial data to use in your research.

Canada

United States

Data.gov
Data.gov is the United States Government's open data repository. Browse by topic, or search the collection of over 230,000 datasets.
US Economic Census
A subset of the US Census, data includes the business expenses survey and industry sector tables. Updated every 5 years.

International

UNdata
A compilation of data from United Nations agencies and other international sources. Includes 14 databases and 6 glossaries containing over 55 million data points and covering a whole range of statistics including Population, Industry, Energy, Trade and National Accounts. Data can be retrieved by country or topic and viewed on screen or downloaded in a variety of formats.
World Bank Databases
The World Bank's Open Data initiative is intended to provide all users with access to World Bank data. The data catalog is a listing of available World Bank data sources. Free access is currently provided to the following World Bank Databases: World Development Indicators Global Development Finance, Africa Development Indicators, and Global Economic Monitor.
